ESTABLISHING BOSNIAN NATIONAL PAIN THERAPY ASSOCIATION

The need for adequate treatment of pain, and primarily training of doctors and other medical personal in Pain Management is a direct consequence of the war that took place in BIH, resulting in a huge number of wounded and mutilated people, increase of cancer disease, circulation diseases and psychological pain.

According to the requirements in Sarajevo, 1993. Hope 87 has formed a database of the handicap and war created amputees. The database contains names of 1250 people.

In 1996. We started treating phantom pain, which encouraged us in its positive treatment results.

The project "Pain therapy, Rehabilitation and Social integration war victims in Sarajevo" were supported by UNESCO, Austrian Government,
JICA(Japan International Cooperation Agency)

With the great help from our donors from the world certain experiences were made. According to International standards (IASP,1974 Siettle), adequate space was built and HOPE 87 “Center for Pain Treatment” was established.
