IASP Global Day Against Cancer Pain 20.Oct.2008
Estimated
that over 4000 people in BH die of cancer every year and 75% in heavy
pains.Pain is described as moderate to severe in approximately 40-50% and as
very severe in 25-30%.
Association for pain therapy BiH has been organised Seminar regarding
celebration a Global Day Against Cancer Pain on 20.Oct.2008 in Travnik on
topic "Cancer Pain". Purpose mentioned Seminar is education to
Bosnian physicians about treating of Cancer pain in BH concerning health
insurance system.
Workshop Topic: Cancer Pain, Opioides, Availability and Law.
Seminar attend 28 physicians (anaesthesiologists,
general practicioners, primary health care, nurses from Travnik, Vitez, Nova
Bila.
Conclusion:
Many types of Cancer are undiagnosed and untreated early. Many of them in
pain are sufficient provided in pain medication due to opioid phobia among
doctors and family members.These issues are caused through of Govermental
restrictions on pain medication(Low unregulation),
sufficient education, as well as financial limitations have also affect to
effective pain medication.
On Seminar we anounced that the APTBH recently sent a document on BiH
Government (Ministry of Civil affairs BiH and Agency for medicaments BiH)
with subject:
Appeal and help to state and
public institutions regarding modulation BiH State law and policy about
"Pain therapy" and controlled drugs administration (CSs) in therapy
(opiates and specific analgetics), and documents as recommendation from: WHO,
IASP, ACMP (Access to Controlled Medication Programme) and American Academy
of Pain Medicine as a guideline.

ANNUAL ASSEMBLY OF APTBH
In
Sarajevo on
Sep 11th 2008, from 11:40AM to 01:40PM in “Bosnia Hotels”
hall was
held Annual Assembly-Association for Pain Therapy BiH. About 80 regular
members and steering board members were attended.
Aim:
More efficient Association working and struggle for pain therapy developing
in BiH.
Planned activities for further period:
1. Partnership in Projects with HOPE`87 about “Developing
Pain Therapy
network in BiH”
2. Appeal and help Public and State institutions regarding State law about
opiates and specific analgetics in pain therapy (according recommendation
UN/Ban Ki-moon and Human right/Bernard Kouchner.
• Formulating State Law and policy about pain therapy and
medicaments.
• Accessibility in opiate therapy and specific analgetics in community and
home therapy, in pharmacies.
• Financing
• Education for health care professionals about pain therapy
and usage
mentioned medicaments.
Conclusion:
Recommendation from IASP, WHO, conclusions from sessions required is to send
Ministry of Civil affairs BiH and Agency for medicaments BiH for appointed
meeting October 1st 2008 in cooperation with Council of Europe.
